Thorne Nature Experience, formerly Thorne Ecological Institute, was founded in Boulder, Colorado in 1954 by Dr. Oakleigh Thorne, II and is currently celebrating 60 years of connecting youth to nature through hands-on, place-based environmental education experiences. During the past six decades, Thorne has connected more than 200,000 children, teens, and adults to nature and become a nationally recognized leader in the field of environmental education. Today, Thorne's Summer Camp, In-School Program, and Field Trips reach more than 12,000 Boulder County and Front Range youth each year.
Tickets for this event are SOLD OUT!
Thorne Nature Experience is proud to host its 60th Anniversary Celebration & Fundraising Event on October 17, 2014 at the Rembrandt Yard in Boulder. Join us for a silent auction, wine and handcrafted beer, heavy appetizers from local restaurants, and a celebration of environmental education in our community. Cocktail attire is suggested.
The VIP Reception begins at 5:30pm and includes martinis from Vodka 14, microbrews from Upslope, wine, and passed hors d'oeuvres.
General Admission to the event begins at 6pm and includes microbrews from Upslope, wine, and appetizers.
Proceeds from the 60th Anniversary Celebration will be used to fund the delivery of Thorne’s programs to underserved youth. During the past year Thorne provided a record $90,000 in scholarships to send low-income youth to its summer natural science camps and $172,000 in grants to low-income, low-scoring, and culturally diverse elementary schools so that they could host a Thorne program at their school or take a field trip to one of our nature centers in Boulder or Littleton.
